The Moroccan National Office of Tourism (ONMT) announced the launch of a new television program dubbed “Zour Bladek” (“Visit Your Country”), which aims to encourage Moroccans to visit different cities across the country. The Agafay desert was the show’s focus, which premiered on Saturday, July 10th on national television station 2M.
The program, hosted by Najlae Bellouri, urges Moroccans to travel across the country, emphasising tourist attractions and activities to participate in if they visit. “Zour Bladek” will be broadcast in two parts. “Zour Bladek Magazine” will be a 26-minute bi-weekly show that will run on Saturdays at 7:40 p.m. and will be an in-depth exploration of a specific destination, presenting its nature, resources, and other elements.
The programme will also have a “Zour Bladek Weekend” part. This four-minute segment will air every Saturday and Sunday and offer “the greatest spots for a pleasant weekend getaway,” including affordable and nearby attractions.
The program’s goal is to revitalise tourism in places typically eclipsed by more popular locations. It is part of the ONMT’s ongoing “Ntla9awfbladna” (“Let’s Meet in Our Country”) campaign, which urges Moroccans to explore their homeland and have a more profound sense of belonging.
According to a recent ONMT study, domestic tourism is the most important type of tourism in Morocco. In 2019, domestic travellers accounted for 31 per cent of hospitality revenues or a total of 7.8 million overnight stays.
