Broadcast Media Africa recently sat with Oluyemisi Bamgbose [PhD], the newly appointed the Executive Secretary of Broadcasting Organisations Of Nigeria (BON). This meeting was held under Broadcast Media Africa’s new series, “#IndustryLeadersSpeak”.
Dr Bamgbose, who holds a field of expertise and extensive broadcasting and advertising experience dating back to 1983, shared his plans, goals, and vision, providing an exclusive view of what the industry can expect during his tenure in office.
The Executive Secretary highlighted challenges faced in the media and broadcasting space, sharing how he hopes to bridge the existing gaps during his occupancy.
According to Dr Bamgbose, broadcast media is a vital sector in Nigeria; however, it is the only sector that does not have a regulatory agency. He highlighted various industries, which are as important as media, that have associations that regulate the practice of their profession.
Dr Oluyemisi plans to establish a society that will regulate the broadcasting media practitioners in Nigeria. The intention is to organise members and the practices of broadcasting media from a practitioner angle and not from a governmental view as currently being carried out.
