OpenView, a free-to-view broadcaster in South Africa, has indicated that two eMedia channels, eNews and Sports Channel, will no longer be available.
BMA sources reported yesterday that employees at the channel received their retrenchment notice as the broadcaster indicated that the channels were no longer operative.
The cancellation of eNews and Sports Channel came as a surprise, and OpenView indicated that Premier League games and other sports will be accessible on the eReality channel.
Earlier the free-to-view broadcaster reported that it would be ending the eRewind channel and substituting it with eXposed.
In a statement by the broadcaster, it was mentioned that the “eRewind channel will end on 1 April to make way for exciting changes in the month of April.”
The eRewind channel, which broadcasts “golden classics” and “yesteryear TV favourites”, made it on the platform in November 2019.
Openview indicated that more channels are coming to the platform. The first channel to be added is eXposed (channel 109), a food, music, art, and entertainment channel, which will air on Monday, 4 April 2022.
In a statement released by OpenView, the eXposed channel will feature programs that push boundaries and go beyond traditional television while creating entertaining conversations that resonate with the voice of a young, opinionated, motivated generation.
eXposed will include TV shows such as Chasing Famous, States of Undress, F**K That’s Delicious, Most Expensivest by 2 Chainz, and TMZ on TV.
