AAA Entertainment, an African distribution company, has inked a new production and distribution partnership with Silverbird Distribution. The collaboration with AAA Entertainment will oversee the production of original African feature films.
The deal worth US$50 million was signed in Durban, South Africa, during the Intra African Trade Fair (IATF). The partnership will see both companies produce a slate of African feature films for the big screens and Video-On-Demand platforms, including Netflix on the continent.
Silverbird Distribution founder Ben Murray Bruce confirmed the partnership, saying, “Silverbird has a long history in the Nigerian Media and Entertainment sector.” We started as a live entertainment events company before expanding into a network of television and radio station properties.”
“We have successfully developed the best West African film distribution and exhibition company, and now we are excited to announce our relationship with AAA Entertainment as we pivot into the feature film production realm.”
Mayenzeke Baza, AAA Entertainment’s Head of Distribution and Financing, said, “We are excited about this partnership because it allows us to create great content between the two largest markets on the continent, namely Nigeria and South Africa, as well as access pan African private equity and state funding.”
The production and distribution deal will go into effect in the first quarter of 2022.
