A year after its launch, Showmax Pro has secured a massive broadcasting deal that will give its audience access to stream the UEFA 2020 matches from the 11th of June 2021 to the 11th of July 2021. Showmax Pro was launched last year by African entertainment company giant, Multichoice, with an intent to give the Multichoice premium package subscribers access to stream European and African leagues directly from the SuperSport channel.
In 2020, the EUFA EURO 2020 had to be postponed due to the COVID pandemic, which sprung worldwide. However, following the live match restriction brought about COVID19 regulations means that every Showmax Pro subscribed household across the continent will have full access to every match. As known by football lovers, the UEFA EURO games are always a great builder of excitement for the FIFA World Cup, of which SuperSport has secured the rights to broadcast its games.
Addressing BMA media sources, Multichoice CEO for General Entertainment and Connected Video, Yolisa Phahle, said that Multichoice is in tune with what football lovers in Africa would like to see. She further noted that Multichoice is happy to provide access to a large group of people, enabling them to stream the matches in the comfort of their homes or on the go.
Marc Jury, the SuperSport Chief Executive, agreed with the sentiments saying that the ability to offer high-class tournaments to sports fans via the Showmax streaming platform is thrilling. Also, the availability of the Showmax Pro streaming platform to offer sports lovers content while on the move has been a great addition to the SuperSport platforms.
