Rockville returns for Season 5
Rockville, a telenovela created in June 2013 by Connie and Shona Ferguson and produced by their own production company, Ferguson Films, will be making its comeback with a refreshed storyline in April 2021.
The telenovela revolves around two different black families who represent the middle class and the working class. The Bogatsus family, headed by Shona Ferguson, characterises the middle-class family. Connie Ferguson leads the working class Mabaso family. The storyline revolved around these two families following their ongoing feud over a series of misunderstandings and adversities.
Sunday World has reported that the crew has started filming the show with the leading cast rejoining from the previous season. The likes of Sello Maake kaNcube, Themba Ndaba and Mbali Enhle are among the top actors that have rejoined the cast.
The show’s previous seasons featured stars such as Connie Ferguson, Shona Ferguson, Terry Pheto, Boity Thulo, Brenda Ngxoli and Trevor Gumbi. According to reports, the show was canned due to poor ratings; however, Connie Ferguson and the local entertainment channels Head of PR and Publicity, Philly Kubheka, at Multichoice, have confirmed the show’s return to the channel.
Connie has revealed that the return is due to the high demand and has promised more action and new faces. She reminisced on Rockville’s birthing, which was their first executive producing the project for herself and Shona. This project laid a foundation for Ferguson Films to start building Mzansi Magic’s first-ever drama series after the channel was launched, she said.
“We are looking forward to the return of the squad that started it all and to introduce new and exciting characters and talent”, Connie said.
