A new Nigerian movie titled ‘Over Her Dead Body’ will start showing in all cinemas nationwide from January 7, 2022.
The film was shot in Lagos, Nigeria, in February 2020 and packaged by Pen Pusher Productions, a Lagos-based film and television content company. It is being distributed by Genesis Deluxe Cinemas Distribution, a Nollywood movie distribution powerhouse.
Sola Osofisan produced and directed the comedy-drama, examining mothers’ undeniable hold on their sons and the unlucky women who come between them.
‘Over Her Dead Body’ explores how this connection can become strident and destabilising in some instances.
Zara’s mother-in-law, Mama, arrives unexpectedly on a prolonged stay after being reminded of her mortality by an armed robbery attack in faraway Ibadan.
She has resolved to hug her grandchildren before she dies due to her near-death experience. But, unfortunately, she does not have any.
Mama determines that her lone son and his long-time wife are taking too long to give birth, and to speed up the process, Mama bullies and mistreats her daughter-in-law, deploying various schemes to achieve her purpose. The henpecked daughter-in-law, Zara, then decides to strike back.
Zara is played by award-winning actress Nse Ikpe Etim, who was recently seen in Netflix’s ‘King of Boys,’ while Veteran actress Binta Ayo Mogaji plays Mama. Uche Mac-Auley, Patrick ‘Rico Swavey’ Fakoya, Gregory Ojefua, Taiwo Solanke, Onyeka Fiaka, Adenike Ayodele, and a slew of other notable actors appear in the film too.
The film (and tickets) will be accessible at all major cinemas across Nigeria from January 7, 2022.
