MultiChoice Nigeria’s Chief Executive Officer, Mr John Ugbe, has shared the organisation’s commitment to align the production and broadcast of content with its subscribers’ consumption and technology preferences.
Ugbe made the declaration during the annual DStv Media Sales (DMS) workshop held in association with the Media Independent Practitioners Association of Nigeria (MIPAN) in Lagos – Nigeria,
During his speech, the CEO for MultiChoice’s Nigeria explained that the organisation could only retain the loyalty of its subscribers through targeted content that would meet the subscriber’s taste. He added that this would also assist in strengthening the organisation’s connection with customers whilst providing a valuable platform for advertising.
“One of the key takeaways from this workshop should be the keyword ‘attention’ which is central in today’s conversation. ‘Attention’ can only be maintained by providing the right content on our platform. Although dependent on various subjects such as technology, as well as creativity around the content and devices, ‘attention’ can be delivered,” said Ugbe.
“The goal is to continue with the growth rate of the platform and attract event bigger numbers and attention which will in turn help in creating a deeper connection with the audience and by that generate advertising revenue”.
Also commenting during the workshop, Fahmeeda Cassim-Surtee, the Chief Executive Officer of DStv Media Sales, explained that MultiChoice has continuously delivered services to over 20million households in Sub-Saharan Africa. MultiChoice prioritises investment in technology to keep ahead of the content consumption trends and provide innovative solutions for advertising needs.
The Registrar/ Chief Executive Officer of the Advertising Practitioners Council of Nigeria (APCON), Dr Olalekan Fadolapo, elaborated on the framework birthed by the need for reform in the advertising industry through the traditional framework to guide the relations between advertisers and advertising agencies.
The framework in reference is the Advertising Industry Standard of Practice (AISOP), a business framework seeking to improve mutual respect by eliminating unfair advantage and unethical practices among stakeholders in the industry.
