In Nigeria, the Kwara State Television Authority (KWTV) has begun 24-hour Transmission two decades after its establishment. The TV station is now live on StarTimes Channel 113 and FreeTV 502.
The state governor reaffirmed a commitment to upgrading and repositioning media houses in the state to disseminate government activities effectively. “Our media houses were in a condition of slumber before this administration came on board, but under our watch, we have effectively turned the narrative around, and we will not stop until we achieve our goals,” the governor stated.
The state Commissioner for Communications, Hon Olabode Towoju, also spoke, saying that the TV station had been off the air since September 2021 but that it would not go off again because “the current administration is committed to ensuring that the station upholds best practices in the industry.”
Mr Olatunde Michael, the TV station’s general manager, said the launch was the first of three phases to reintroduce Kwara TV. The channel hoped to go national in the second phase and then international via DSTV in the third.
