In Nigeria, organisers of the Africa Movie Academy Awards (AMAA) have called for entries ahead of its 2023 edition.
According to the founder and CEO of the AMAAs, Peace Anyiam-Osigwe, the early call for entries is to enable more film practitioners across Africa and the diaspora to submit and participate in the 19th edition of the awards.
Speaking on the awards, Anyiam-Osigwe said, “this is an avenue to officially rest the 18th edition of the AMAAs under the supervision of the Africa Film Academy and begin the journey to 2023. We are currently calling for entries for the 19th edition in all categories, which will last until March 2023.
Anyiam-Osigwe further added that the Africa Film Academy invites filmmakers to submit their feature, short, animation, and documentary work for consideration in 24 film categories of the awards.”
Also commenting, Kingsley James, Chief Operating Officer of AMAA, said, “Following the success of the 2022 edition of the AMAA, we thought it best to open entries early to allow industry players enough time to submit their projects for consideration. Under the 24 categories, filmmakers can submit their works of art.”
