According to MultiChoice and NBCUniversal International Networks & Direct-to-Consumer, the DreamWorks channel will debut on DStv channel 304 on March 18.
The 24-hour channel will be available across DStv’s Sub-Saharan region and will focus on kids and family entertainment.
DreamWorks will be available to DStv Premium, Compact Plus, and Compact subscribers in South Africa.
DStv Access and Family subscribers will have an open window to watch the channel on the 18th and 19th of March.
All Hail King Julien, The Adventures of Puss in Boots, Kung Fu Panda: The Paws of Destiny, Boss Baby: Back in Business, Dragons: Race to the Edge, Dawn of the Croods, Trolls: The Beat Goes On!, and The Epic Tales of Captain Underpants are among DreamWorks’ characters and franchises.
The channel also presents a line of programming for two to five-year-olds, dubbed DreamWorks Junior, which has Postman Pat, Dragons Rescue Riders, Raa Raa: The Noisy Lion, and Noddy Toyland Detective.
DreamWorks is one of three new channels promised by MultiChoice for DStv at the start of the year.
Subscribers may expect a new movie channel later this year, with KIX (DStv 114) available to Family and Access subscribers on March 31, 2022.
The additional channels were announced shortly after eMedia revealed that four of its channels would be removed from DStv at the end of the month.
According to the company spokespeople, MultiChoice and eMedia had renewed their channel supply agreement.
According to eMedia, MultiChoice chose to drop some of its channels, namely eMovies, eMovies Extra, eExtra, and eToonz.
However, the news station eNCA (channel 403) will continue to be shown on DStv and E-tv’s daily Afrikaans news bulletin on kykNET (channel 144).
The main free-to-air channel on E-tv is licensed separately and would continue to air on DStv.
