It is being reported that One Africa TV – Namibia’s first private television network will be airing locally produced content for the rest of the month as a result of its partnership with seven local producers. The free-to-air- station’s Director and Content Executive, Taleni Shimholipeni, said that his dream since he started working at One Africa TV has always been to bring more local content to the Namibian viewers. Shimholipeni then highlighted that the number of locally produced shows on the network has increased from 2% in 2016 to 40%.
One Africa TV has placed emphasis on partnerships. Several of these partnerships have brought the broadcaster a series of local producers. More recently, the vision and mission have influenced the selection of the new seven locally produced Namibian shows, airing in this month of May. Shimholipeni assured audiences that the station was committed to bringing more locally produced content as they advance.
Stefan Hugo, the Chief Executive Officer at Tribal Fire Group, One Africa TV’s parent company, commended the increased release of local content, stating that this will lead to increased support of Namibia’s entertainment sector.
Hugo went on to emphasise the importance of the Namibian creative industry to TribeFire Studios. He highlighted that industry is a crucial stakeholder to the organisation, and the studio is thrilled at having worked with a nifty set of producers who share the same vision.
The shows curated by the seven producers include Wonder Women, This is Namibia, The Namrequest Show, MTC HopSol, Youth Soccer League, MamaKobo Films, V10 Music Video Chart and 99FM Royal Hustlers.
