Although the Covid-19 pandemic has without a doubt created challenges to the Academy’s programme and its students in the previous year. The class set a precedent of graduating with two qualifications instead of one due to the duration extension of 12 to 18 months. Students also got the opportunity to make short films under the ‘Colours of Africa’ series in their home countries. The short films aired on Showmax and M-Net AfroCinema pop-up channel as part of the Africa Month campaign.
The program launched in May 2018 is now one of the continents finest hubs for cultivating skilled individuals. According to Yolisa Phahle, MultiChoice Group CEO of General Entertainment and Connected Video, “The Academy’s commitment is on the next generation of African storytellers, equipping them with world-class training that will hone their raw skills; for the future of the film and television industry.”
The Multichoice Group could not be more excited to be going on its third year, with a total of 120 students thus far who have been moulded into skilled industry professionals by the Academy, understanding that your creativity determines the quality of output.
