MultiChoice’s Showmax has confirmed that production is currently underway for the Kenyan hit series Single Kiasi.
Following the success of the first season of Single Kiasi, Showmax announced that the hit drama series will be coming back for season two.
According to the streamer, the second season, which has begun production, will premiere in 2023.
Single Kiasi follows the lives of three women in Nairobi, Sintamei, Mariah and Rebecca – as they deal with the challenges of marriage, relationships and their careers.
Picking up a couple of months after the season one finale, which left their love lives in uncertainty, the new season will find the central characters experiencing events that will impact their friendship in unforeseen ways.
Sharing her delight for the new season, Single Kiasi director Grace Kahaki said: “Single Kiasi season one exceeded all our expectations by being one of the most-watched titles on Showmax for 13 weeks straight. The show is an absolute testament that Kenyans want and support good local content where they see themselves reflected. As Insignia Productions, we’re very thankful for the show’s reception, and we’re excited to give our audience a bigger and better season two.”
The series cast includes Gathoni Mutua, Minne Kariuki, and Faith Kibathi are reprising their roles as Sintamei, Mariah and Rebecca, respectively.
Also returning are Michael Munyoki, Brian Abajah, Kevin Maina, Walter Bruce Opiyo, Derek Bbanga and Maggie Kiundi.
Insignia Productions will produce the series along with company partner Philip Bresson.
