
MTN Group has reported a change in its executive directors to operating entities in Iran, Sudan and Nigeria, as the Group’s affairs strategy to prompt development, reduce debt and increase value in their fintech and fibre companies.
The positions will come into effect on 1 April 2022.
MTN Group President and CEO Ralph Mupita mentioned that an integral part of their strategy is acquiring accomplished personnel with advanced skill sets.
“Today’s affirmation indicates the pool of accomplished personnel within the Group and the capability of our succession planning.”
After the latest appointment of MTN Nigeria Chief Operating Officer Mazen Mroue as MTN Group Chief Information and Technology Officer, Hassan Jaber, to take the position of COO at MTN Nigeria.
He transferred from MTN Irancell, where he operated as COO, carrying more than 25 years of experience in the telecoms and digital industry within the MTN Group.
Jaber’s accomplishments of building and scaling-up telecom operations and innovating digital businesses through the power of mobile technology will be helpful in the growth of MTN Nigeria as it contributes to the Group’s strategic intention to drive digital innovation for Africa’s development.
He has led MTN in numerous markets, counting Ghana, Guinea-Conakry, Sudan, Syria, Afghanistan as well as Yemen. In addition, Malik Melamu, who possesses over 28 years of leadership and executive experience, will lead MTN Irancell COO, joining from MTN Sudan, where he held the CEO position for five years.
He served as MTN Benin CEO as well as Executive for Sales and Distribution and Customer Experience at MTN Group. Taking the CEO position, MTN Sudan is Ziad Sabah.
These roles show that MTN Group is dedicated to its strategic undertaking and the growth of its members.
