
Netflix has released the official trailer for season two of the South African crime fantasy series, ‘Kings of Jo’burg’ ahead of its release.
The first season premiered in 2020, with a total of 6 episodes. The drama series delves into legacy building, fragmented family structures, treacherous brotherhoods, and the effects of crime and African masculinities on families and society.
“With the loss of the King of Jo’burg, Simon Masire, the family adapts to a new king and new enemies in the City Of Gold. With Simon missing, Mo must take over the Masire family’s business and the curse. But no one is what they seem, especially his lover Phumzi,” the synopsis read.
Produced by Ferguson Films and Samad Davis Production, the series stars the late filmmaker and actor Shona Ferguson, Zolisa Xaluva, Sello Sebotsane, Tsholofelo Matshaba, Connie Ferguson, Cindy Mahlangu, Tk Sebothoma, and Nigerian actor Enyinna Nwigwe.
Speaking about the series, Ferguson Films co-owner Connie Ferguson said, “It was such an honour to have worked with exceptional African talent to produce this series. We produced this series in memory of the late Shona Ferguson. We hope his proud.”
‘Kings of Jo’burg’ premieres on Netflix on January 27, 2023.
