
‘Kegumbo Okegumbo’, a Namibian short film, has been selected to form part of the Colours of Africa film series, which features 16 films produced by Multichoice Talent Factory (MTF) Academy’s Class of 2020.
The short film directed by Hilma Sheehama, produced by Reijhaat Wolhuter, with Shona Ngava as its Director Of Photography (DOP), will premiere on DSTV platforms today, 25 May 2021. Viewers will be able to access ‘Kegumbo Okegumbo’ and the rest of the Africa Day lineup on Showmax, M-Net Movies AfroCinema pop-up channel, GOtv Max and GOtv Plus. The Painting and Savannah Skies from Namibia’s 2020 MFT alumni will also form part of the selection of films that will be screened on the platforms.
Multichoice Group Chief Executive Officer of General Entertainment and Connected Video, Yolisa Phahle, said that the Colours Of Africa film series is among many initiatives that Multichoice Group uses to celebrate young film talent in Africa. Multichoice is proud to celebrate Africa Day by honouring the work of the MTF Academies’ Class of 2020 in this way. The film series is also a reflection of the commitment made by the organisation to develop and nurture the abundance of young talent who represent the future of our industry, said Phahle.
According to the Director of the Multichoice Talent Factory initiative, the Colours Of Africa film series is specially curated in line with Multichoice Group’s support and commitment to preserve and celebrate African history, culture, and traditions through film and TV.
