Organisers of Egypt’s Luxor African Film Festival (LAFF) have announced that the 12th edition of the festival will take place from February 4 to 11, 2023.
Themed: ‘Cinema is the Eternity of Time’, the festival’s poster was designed by Mahmoud Ismail Abou Al-Enin and reflected the festival’s three core components: cinema, Luxor and Africa, organisers say.
In a statement, the artist explained, “Luxor is the city of the sun and the capital of the Pharaonic civilisation, and this is reflected in the poster through the sun and the Pharaonic obedience, which is the same as the sun of Africa.”
The 12th edition of the Luxor African Film Festival is scheduled to take place from February 4 to 11, 2023.
The festival was established by scriptwriter Sayed Fouad, who is also its president, and actress and cultural manager Azza El-Hosseiny, who is LAFF’s director.
Since its inception, the festival has aimed to spread awareness about the importance of cinema in Africa and the world.
The Independent Shabab Foundation organises LAFF with the support of the Egyptian ministries of culture, tourism, antiquities, youth and sports and foreign affairs. LAFF cooperates with the Luxor governorate, the Film Syndicate, and numerous other sponsors.
