The oldest privately owned television station, E-Botswana, has rebranded its newly launched Yarona TV under the leadership and ownership of YMH Group. The rebranding has been aimed at adjusting to Botswana’s media landscape by providing high-quality local content for entertainment and education.
Yarona TV, which was previously operating as E-Botswana, is focused on airing current affairs, family, and sports programmes. According to reports, the station hit the ground running by being the only local channel that airs the Barclays English Premier League matches.
The General Manager of Yarona TV, Rykie Wade, said that since the acquisition of the television station, the team has been working on a strategic plan that would grow the station into an African powerhouse. The aim is to have viewers from all over Africa, said Wade. We are confident that the station will soon be competing with well-established TV stations across the region, added the General Manager. The TV station has released a line-up of local and international blockbuster content. It has also revealed TV presenters that they will have for the various shows.
YTV is here to stay, said Wade. It is here to solidify that privately-owned TV stations in Botswana can grow to greater heights, and they can also become iconic television channels. As YTV, we are looking forward to working with local and international content creators to produce world-class content, added Wade. YTV is available on the free-to-air Zebra decoder. The channel can also be accessed via online streaming on UPIC TV.
