South Africa’s Business Day TV is expanding its international coverage as part of a partnership with US’s Bloomberg Media. The agreement gives Business Day TV access to Bloomberg’s substantial financial and economic content, analysis, and market data.
The agreement will see the launch of The Close – with Bloomberg during primetime from 5:30 p.m. to 8 p.m., Monday through Friday. The show is a comprehensive wrap of local and international business news, JSE moves and stock picks, and interviews with international analysts and CEOs of global companies.
“Money knows no borders,” says Vernon Matzopoulos, channel head for Business Day. “South Africans have an increasingly global outlook on business and investing.” “Collaborating with one of the world’s greatest business media brands was a no-brainer when we chose to expand our global coverage.” As a result, our viewers now have access to the finest of local and global business in one place, delivered by brands they can trust.”
Bloomberg’s What’d You Miss, a 30-minute wrap of all US market action from Bloomberg’s headquarters in New York, will air daily at 7:30 a.m., while daytime programming will be bolstered with Bloomberg feature shows encompassing technology, leadership, investing, and the green economy.
Arena Holdings’ group CEO, Andy Gill, said the deal has been in the works for a few months. “A strategic alliance like this one, in our opinion, paves the path for us to broaden and expand our reach. This arrangement with Bloomberg is in line with our goals and allows us to enhance our product offering while also attracting new audiences to our platform.”
“Expanding our reach in South Africa and across the continent is a priority for Bloomberg Media,” said Soo Yun Kang, Bloomberg Media’s Global Head of Distribution. “We’re excited to be expanding our partnership with Arena and look forward to working together to reach this audience of business executives.”
The new line-up will be available starting December 14th.
