Broadcast Media Africa recently convened, in partnership with 2GwanaMedia, a one-day online forum under the industry programme for “Community Radio Broadcasting in Africa”. The online forum took place on Thursday, 26 August 2021, with a focus on “Community Broadcasting – Use Podcasting To Maximum Leverage”. The industry meeting provided a platform for capacity building through the exchange of ideas and information that assisted and will continue to aid practitioners in achieving professional excellence.
The conversations observed how there is a need to define what podcasting is to the African continent. The industry meeting addressed common challenges besetting podcasting ranging from the lack of active involvement from telecommunication operators who have been noted as needing to be part of the conversation when addressing new media adoption.
It was agreed that African podcasters need to explore an African way of doing things. Only through collaborations and remodelling can progress be achieved at a faster pace.
