Africa Magic, a Multichoice-owned TV channel, is considering making a film about the life of Nigeria’s first lady, Aisha Buhari.
If the project pulls through, Aisha Buhari will not be the first political figure to be the subject of a biography. Africa Magic also revealed some time ago that a biopic about Kogi governor Yahaya Bello would be released in December.
Ali Nuhu will play Bello, while Roseanne Chikwendu will play Rashidat, the governor’s wife. According to Seun Oloketuyi, the film’s producer billed as an analysis of the governor’s life.
Busola Tejumola, MultiChoice Nigeria’s executive head of content and West Africa Channels, announced the news during a two-day Africa Magic content marketplace in Kano. According to Tejumola, the initiative will allow northern Nigeria to relate their stories.
The Africa Magic Content Marketplace is an initiative that Multichoice hopes will provide every content producer with the opportunity to interface with the pay-tv operators’ buyers. It will also give the privilege to share the type and quality of content required by Multichoice with producers.
“By providing a platform and training support, Africa Magic is devoted to assisting producers in telling authentic stories.”
“Africa Magic, dedicated to telling African stories, is considering possibly making a biopic of Mrs Aisha Buhari, President Muhammadu Buhari’s wife,” he stated.
MultiChoice’s statement said the event coincided with the Annual General Meeting (AGM) of the Broadcasting Organisations of Nigeria (BON), provides an avenue for primary content producers to directly interact with Africa Magic for the opportunity to sell their productions.
